The Octavia Cup Project

Cup racing has very strong roots in the Czech Republic, especially when it comes to the Česká pojišťovna – Škoda Octavia CUP serial races, which are ranked among some of the most successful competitions not only in the Czech Republic, but also throughout Europe. More than 120 drivers participated in the races during the 12 years it was held (1998 – 2009). The Cup helped a number of drivers kick-start their professional careers and also helped them to be offered interesting contracts. A few names which come to mind are: Jan Kopecký, Adam Lacko, Petr Fulín, Štefan Rosina, Jiří Janák and Erik Janiš. On top of these Czech drivers, a number of young talented foreign drivers also participated.

There are a number of similar projects that take place in Europe and most of the young drivers that take part in these competitions are supported by the car manufacturers or importers themselves. The VW group currently runs the Seat Leon Cup, VW Golf Cup and Audi TT Cup. You may notice that Skoda is missing from the list, which is very highly-regarded in motor sport, and aims to fill the empty space in motor racing with the help of this project.

Company BENET, s.r.o. presents Octavia Cup, a single make trophy of identical circuit racers. This project aims to follow in its predecessor footsteps by offering a high-value sports event that is not only interesting for the audience, but also helps young talented drivers to enter the world of motorsport.
